Speeding S-I crushes bike in Lko, youth killed
LUCKNOW, May 30 -- An SUV allegedly driven by a sub-inspector rammed into a motorcycle on Hardoi Road in Lucknow on Friday afternoon, killing a 25-year-old youth and critically injuring another minor boy. This sparked protests and a road blockade by angry villagers demanding action against the accused driver.
According to the official police statement on Friday, the accident took place around 3:40 pm near the Bajnagar underpass close to a resort under the Kakori-Dubagga area. Police identified the deceased as Sahil, son of Ajje Khan and a resident of Amethia Salempur. The injured boy, Ajan, 10, son of Mahtab, sustained serious injuries and was admitted to hospital in a critical condition.
According to police, Sahil and Ajan were going towards Kakori on a bike when the car, coming from Dubagga at high speed, allegedly lost control and collided head-on with the bike. The impact threw the victims several feet away and completely damaged the motorcycle.
Deputy commissioner of police (DCP) West Kamlesh Dixit revealed that the FIR in the matter has been lodged. The police official driving the vehicle has been identified as Akash Kumar, a sub-inspector (SI) posted in Hardoi and belonging to Muzzafarnagar district.
Villagers accused the police official of rash and negligent driving and questioned why the police had not officially disclosed the identity of the person behind the wheel hours after the crash.
Soon after the accident, family members and villagers brought Sahil's body back to the accident site and blocked the road, disrupting traffic movement on Hardoi Road for several hours....
