Special cell formed to curb rumours
PRAYAGRAJ, April 3 -- The Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) has constituted a special cell to curb rumours and misinformation related to its functioning.
The initiative aims to safeguard the institution's credibility and ensure strict action against those responsible for circulating false information, officials said.
The move comes close on the heels of the commission initiating the online application process for UP-TET 2026. Registration, application submission, and fee payment will remain open until April 26, while corrections and final fee settlement can be made until May 1. The examination is scheduled to be held from July 2 to July 4.
UPESSC deputy secretary and PRO Sanjay Kumar Singh said the commission has taken note of attempts by certain anti-social elements to tarnish its image by spreading baseless and misleading rumours. In response, a dedicated cell has been set up to verify such claims and initiate legal proceedings against offenders.
Officials explained that the newly formed cell will collect relevant information and coordinate closely with security agencies to conduct fact-based investigations. This collaboration will help identify those involved, facilitate appropriate legal action, and prevent the spread of misleading propaganda.
The commission has appealed to the public not to believe or share unverified information on social media or other platforms. Citizens have been advised to confirm updates through the official website (www.upessc.up.gov.in) or the commission's social media handle on X (@upesscprayagraj).
Additionally, people have been encouraged to report any suspicious or doubtful information to the commission and act as responsible citizens. The deputy secretary emphasised that the commission takes such matters seriously and is committed to taking strict action against those found guilty....
