Lucknow, Aug. 6 -- Samajwadi Party (SP) members staged a walkout from the Vidhab Parishad (Legislative Council) on Wednesday after the chair rejected their adjournment motion seeking a discussion on alleged paper leaks in competitive examinations and the government's handling of students' protests. The adjournment notice, moved under Rule 105 by Leader of Opposition Lal Bihari Yadav and other SP members, alleged that repeated paper leaks had triggered widespread student unrest and accused the government of adopting a repressive approach towards the protesters. Speaking on the admissibility of the motion, Ashutosh Sinha, Man Singh Yadav and Lal Bihari Yadav pressed for a detailed discussion on the issue. Replying on behalf of the government, labour minister Anil Rajbhar said incidents of examination paper leaks were not a new phenomenon and recalled several such cases during the previous SP government. He also referred to alleged irregularities in the Provincial Civil Services (PCS) examination during the SP regime, claiming that the selection of candidates from a particular caste had prompted the High Court to cancel the examination. Rajbhar said reforms in the education system were a continuous process and there was always scope for improvement. He asserted that the Yogi Adityanath government had taken historic measures to make recruitment examinations transparent, fair and completely copy-free, significantly strengthening the integrity of the examination process....
