SP Lohia Vahini state secretary killed in car crash in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, June 5 -- Samajwadi Party's Lohia Vahini state secretary, Ratnesh Yadav (37), was killed in a road accident in Prayagraj's Civil Lines area late Wednesday night when the car he was travelling in crashed into a roadside tree. The accident occurred around 1 am near Dosa Plaza crossing. According to police, the speeding car went out of control, reportedly after a dog suddenly came in front of the vehicle, and rammed into a tree. The impact was so severe that the front portion of the car was completely mangled.
Ratnesh, a resident of Dumdum village in Handia and owner of a printing business in Prayagraj, was seated in the rear seat of the car. Three others travelling with him-Himanshu Tripathi, Surya Yadav and Sandeep Kumar-sustained injuries and were admitted to hospital.
Police said Ratnesh suffered grievous head and chest injuries and was declared dead by doctors. The injured occupants are undergoing treatment.
Ratnesh had been serving as the state secretary of SP's Lohia Vahini since 2021 and owned a printing press, Global Graphics, in the city, kin said.
ACP (Civil Lines) Vidyut Goyal said CCTV footage indicated that the incident was a road accident. Police have questioned the three survivors and sent the body for postmortem examination. Further investigation is underway....
