SP event to mark Janeshwar Mishra's birth anniv in Lko
PRAYAGRAJ, July 5 -- The Samajwadi Party (SP) has stepped up preparations for a gathering to mark the birth anniversary of veteran socialist leader and former Union minister Janeshwar Mishra, popularly known as 'Chhote Lohia', at Janeshwar Mishra Park in Lucknow on August 5.
Addressing media persons in Prayagraj on Friday, Sanatan Pandey, SP's Ballia MP and the event's convenor, said intellectuals, party workers and supporters from across Uttar Pradesh are expected to take part in the proposed gathering.
He said the programme would be dedicated to reaffirming the party's commitment to democracy, the Constitution, communal harmony and the ideals of social justice.
Pandey said India's social and cultural diversity could be strengthened through socialist principles and described the anniversary event as a platform to reinforce the values of inclusive development and democratic governance.
During the interaction, the Samajwadi Party MP also alleged that "those who collected donations in the name of Lord Ram are themselves involved in stealing the offerings".
On the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, Pandey said the SP would field only those candidates who have a proven ability to win.
Ticket distribution, he said, would be based on organisational strength, public support and winnability rather than caste considerations....
