Sonbhadra admn issues warning
VARANASI, Aug. 28 -- The Sonbhadra district administration said that the Obra dam's water level has increased to 193.20 metre due to heavy rains in the district. The maximum capacity of the dam is 193.24 metres.
If the rain continues, the gates may be opened in order to release the water to ensure safety. The water will travel approximately 11 km via the Renu river before flowing into the Son.
District magistrate Charchit Gaur has appealed to residents of Chakadi, Guruch, Mahalpur, Gothani, Khairtiya, Bardiya, and Sinduriya villages to exercise special caution and maintain a safe distance from the river and water-flow areas.
"The safety of the district's residents is the top priority, and the situation is being constantly monitored," the DM said.
The current water level of Son River: 168.00 meters, Danger mark: 171 meters.
Additionally, other dams in the district are also on the verge of touching the danger mark....
