Lucknow, Oct. 4 -- Skywatchers can observe Saturn at its opposition on October 4, when Earth will lie between the Sun and the planet, making it visible almost throughout the night. The Indira Gandhi Planetarium will organise a special night-sky observation programme, with telescopes allowing visitors to view Saturn and its rings. Saturn will appear as a bright, star-like object and will rise in the eastern sky around sunset, reaching a considerable height around midnight. The increase in the rings' brightness around opposition is known as the Seeliger Effect. The night will also offer views of the Moon, Castor, Pollux and Mars.
