Six teams for Radhika Singh women's cricket tournament
LUCKNOW, March 21 -- As many as six teams would be seen in action in the maiden edition of the Radhika Singh Memorial State Women's Cricket Tournament, beginning March 23, at the SAGE Cricket Ground here.
Organizing secretary, Harshvardhan Singh stated that with the support of the Radhika Foundation, this tournament is being organized in memory of his late mother, offering young women an opportunity to take the field and showcase their cricketing prowess.
The six teams participating in the tournament have been divided into two groups. Group A comprises CAL Lucknow Blue, Agra, and Gorakhpur, while Group B features CAL Lucknow Red, Kanpur, and Saharanpur.
All matches in the tournament will be played as 25-over contests, and following the league round, the top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals. He further explained that the semi-finals will take place on March 26, wherein the top-ranked team from Group A will face the second-ranked team from Group B, and the top-ranked team from Group B will compete against the second-ranked team from Group A.
The final match is scheduled for March 27. The winning team will receive a cash prize of Rs 31,000 along with the winner's trophy, while the runner-up team will be awarded a cash prize of Rs 21,000 and the runner-up trophy.
Lucknow defeated Chitrakoot 3-0 in a league encounter of the Under-19 Junior Boys' State Football Championship in Prayagraj on Friday. Both the teams were locked in a goalless draw at the break. But after a change in the ends, Shobhit (51st minute), Aditya (64th minute) and Ayush (70th minute) scored a goal each.
Players from various states, including Uttar Pradesh, are set to showcase their skills in the AITA Men's Prize Money Tennis Tournament, commencing this Saturday here. The event carries a prize money of Rs 1 lakh. Pawan Sagar, a founding member of the SDS Tennis Academy, stated that the tournament will see qualifying rounds happening on March 21 and 22, followed by the main draw matches from March 23 to March 27.
Sagar further announced that, running concurrently with the main event, the SDS Tennis Academy will also organize a 'Talent Hunt Tennis Tournament' from March 23 to March 27, aimed at encouraging local tennis talent.
This tournament will feature competitions across various age categories-Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18-for both boys and girls, as well as a dedicated women's category. A total prize money of Rs.150,000 has been allocated for this tournament....
