SIR a conspiracy against voters: UP Congress
LUCKNOW, Oct. 8 -- Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) president Aradhana Mishra on Wednesday alleged that after voters of the state taught BJP a lesson in Lok Sabha elections, the party used SIR as a way to attack the Constitution.
Mishra claimed the BJP has "hatched a conspiracy to deprive people of their voting rights" under the guise of SIR. Questioning the integrity of the process, she challenged the BJP and the Election Commission to clarify how 16.18 lakh additional votes were added to the electoral rolls.
Citing data from the chief electoral officer of Uttar Pradesh's website, Mishra noted a discrepancy between application records and final counts: while approximately 71.38 lakh 'Form 6' applications were registered, 84.28 lakh names were eventually added to the final electoral roll.
"The question is straightforward: under what process were these additional 16.18 lakh names added, and where are the 'Form 6' applications and related details of these voters publicly available?"
