SHO dies by suicide in Basti
LUCKNOW, Aug. 30 -- A police station house officer allegedly died by suicide at his government residence near the district collectorate in Basti on Saturday evening, police officials said.
His body in his police uniform was found hanging from a ceiling fan, they added. According to deputy inspector general Sanjeev Tyagi, the SHO, in his 50s, returned to his government accommodation at around 1pm along with some colleagues. The policemen accompanying him stayed at the Civil Lines police outpost, while he went to his residence to rest, Tyagi added.
At around 6:45pm, sub-inspector Balram Gaur reached the SHO's residence but found the door locked from inside. After breaking open the door, he found his body hanging from the ceiling fan.
The DIG, the SP and other senior officers subsequently reached the spot. Police said the SHO posted a message on his personal mobile phone shortly before his death. The status read: "Wealth and possessions are necessary, but they are not greater than peace and love."
No suicide note was recovered from the residence, Tyagi said. His mobile phone has been taken into custody and is being examined. htc...
