Shia Board for action against firozabad ASP
Lucknow, June 26 -- A Shia cleric has demanded the suspension of a senior police officer in Firozabad district over the measurement of Tazias. Videos and photographs circulating on social media show additional superintendent of police Anuj Chaudhary and his team using measuring tapes to check the height and dimensions of Tazias being prepared for the processions of mourners.
Maulana Yasub Abbas, general secretary of the All India Shia Personal Law Board, condemned the action and said it amounted to "disrespect" of the Tazias, which hold deep significance for the Shia community as symbols of mourning for Imam Hussain (AS).
"The religious feelings of the Shia community have been deeply hurt by this act of measuring Tazias with tapes," he said.
He urged the district administration to show respect for religious symbols associated with Moharram and avoid any steps that could be seen as targeting the occasion....
