LAKHIMPUR KHERI, Sept. 6 -- The Sharda river continued to flow above the danger mark in Lakhimpur Kheri on Saturday as heavy discharge from Banbasa barrage flooded parts of the district, affecting 34 villages and 19,353 people, according to district authorities. The Sharda was 19 cm above the danger mark at the Palia bridge, while at Sharda barrage in Shardanagar, it was 4 cm below the mark. The Ghaghra at Girija barrage was 93 cm below its danger level. Suheli, Mohana and Kaudiyala rivers also swelled, flooding agricultural and residential areas. DM Anjani Kumar Singh said frequent discharge from Banbasa had submerged roads and disrupted connectivity to some villages. He urged residents to avoid risky routes through floodwaters and assured them of relief.Rehariya village was marooned on Friday night, leaving boats as the only access. BJP MLA Yogesh Verma reached the village by boat and distributed relief material. On Saturday, ADM Narendra Bahadur Singh and officials also visited the village. Medical teams were deployed. The flood and erosion situation along the Mohana and Karnali rivers in Nighasan remained grim. Mohana floodwaters entered Janakpur village, forcing residents to take shelter at Kaudiyalaghat gurdwara.At Jasnagar, the Mohana threatened parts of Girija barrage's right afflux bund....
