SGPGIMS convocation to introduce new gold medal; Nadda to deliver address
Lucknow, July 13 -- The 30th convocation of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) will be held on July 14, with a new Governor's Gold Medal for an outstanding faculty member set to be introduced for the first time. Governor Anandiben Patel will preside over the ceremony, while Union health and family welfare minister Jagat Prakash Nadda will attend as the chief guest and deliver the convocation address.
The ceremony, to be held at the institute's Shruti Auditorium, will also be attended by deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak and minister of state Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh.
According to SGPGI dean Dr. Shaleen Kumar, the institute will confer 279 degrees, medals and awards on students from DM, MCh, MD, PDCC and BSc Nursing programmes.
A total of 25 meritorious students and faculty members will receive special medals and honours during the ceremony.
The newly instituted Governor's Gold Medal, aimed at recognising excellence in teaching and academic contribution, will be awarded to an outstanding faculty member for the first time at the institute.
SGPGIMS director Dr. R.K. Dhiman will present the institute's annual progress report. During the event, the governor will also virtually upload the graduates' degree certificates to the DigiLocker platform, enabling digital access to academic credentials.
The convocation will also feature presentations highlighting the institute's community outreach initiatives.
Registrar colonel Varun Bajpai said the ceremony will also include presentation of the Prof. S.R. Naik Award, Prof. S.S. Agrawal Award, and honours for doctors and trainee doctors for excellence in patents and research....
