Selection of next KGMU Vice-Chancellor in final stage
LUCKNOW, July 5 -- The search for the next vice chancellor of the King George's Medical University (KGMU) entered its final stage on Saturday after the selection committee completed the first round of interviews and forwarded a panel of three shortlisted candidates to the Chancellor, said medical university officials aware of the development.
Prof KK Singh, KGMU spokesperson, confirmed that a total of 10 candidates appeared before the committee, including five professors from KGMU, two from SGPGIMS, a serving vice chancellor of another university, an institute director and a Delhi-based professor with an Army background.
The committee comprised Dr RK Dhiman, SGPGIMS director, Dr GK Singh, former head of orthopaedics at KGMU and former director of AIIMS Patna, and a judge. The three shortlisted candidates will be considered in the final round before the Chancellor makes the appointment. Officials said the announcement is likely after KGMU's convocation on July 13.
