Seized Atiq land back under scanner after iIlegal plotting cases in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, May 15 -- Following recent cases involving the illegal plotting and sale of land allegedly linked to mafia don Atiq Ahmed, nearly 100 bighas of property seized from him under the Gangster Act in 2020 has once again come under the scrutiny of the district administration.
According to sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) (Sadar) Abhishek Kumar Singh, the land-spread across areas under Kareli, Dhoomanganj, Puramufti and Airport police stations of Prayagraj-is worth several crores. He said repeated attempts have been made by land mafias, many allegedly linked to the IS-227 gang, to illegally sell the confiscated property. To curb such activities, the police and district administration will jointly verify the current status of the land.
Officials said that, to prevent illegal transactions, details of nearly 25 percent of the seized land have already been updated in the revenue records. This prevents the property from being sold by blocking seller rights during the registration process. The exercise to update records for the remaining land is also underway and is expected to be completed soon to curb any fraudulent activity.
The renewed action comes after a case was reported in December 2025 in the Nasirpur Silna area under Dhoomanganj police station.
Dhoomanganj station house officer (SHO) Rajesh Upadhyay registered an FIR against two people, including a woman, at Airport police station. htc...
