LUCKNOW, Sept. 23 -- The women's singles pre-quarterfinals at the 25th RS Sagar Memorial All India Women's Tennis Tournament on Tuesday produced a series of impressive performances, with several seeded players advancing to the quarterfinal stage, at the SDS Tennis Academy here.. Top seed Lakshmi of Delhi began her campaign in commanding fashion, defeating Breshna of Assam 6-2, 6-2. Krishna of Odisha also secured a comfortable victory, overcoming Navya of Madhya Pradesh 6-2, 6-1. Fourth seed Shatakshi of Uttar Pradesh survived a competitive opening set against compatriot Saumrita, winning the tie-break 7-6 (5) before closing out the match 6-2. Eighth seed Snigdha of Assam was equally dominant, defeating Priya of Delhi 6-0, 6-3. Fifth seed Shagun of Uttar Pradesh registered a composed 6-4, 6-4 victory over Miraya, also from Uttar Pradesh. Third seed Ananya, another strong contender from the host state, produced one of the most decisive results of the round, defeating Iram 6-0, 6-1. Vice-president of the Uttar Pradesh Football Sangh, AK Tripathi, who also happens to be the president of Kushinagar Olympic Association, will attend the 20th Asian Games at Aichi-Nagoya in Japan as an OCA observer. Tripathi's appointment marks another significant milestone in his sports journey.
