Seeded players enter quarterfinals with easy wins
LUCKNOW, May 21 -- Seeded players continued to hog the limelight even in the pre-quarters of AITA Boys' and Girls' Championship Series, producing commanding performances, at the Vijayant Khand Stadium here on Wednesday.
Top seed Haris Khan made his intentions quite clear, dismantling Aarnav Garg 6-0, 6-0 in straight sets. Khan's precision from the baseline and sharp serve placement left Garg with few openings, and the straight sets whitewash underlined Haris's status as the player to beat. Third seed Yuvraaj Singh also progressed smoothly, overcoming compatriot Adamya Bhadoria 6-1, 6-3. Yuvraaj combined powerful groundstrokes with improved court coverage to control rallies and finish points decisively, particularly in the opening set where he broke early and never looked back.
Fourth seed Tejas Singh navigated a more contested pathway but maintained composure to beat Bihar's Ankur Alok 6-3, 6-3. Tejas's variety mixing with deep drives with timely drop shots, disrupted Ankur's rhythm and proved the difference in crucial games. Riddhiman's aggressive return game and consistent first serve percentage helped him seize control early in both sets and close out the match with authority. There was no change in the flow in the girls' section too as top seed Saundarya Jaiswal confirmed her favourite tag with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over Hiya Chauhan. Saundarya's reliable ground game and tactical awareness enabled her to dominate rallies and convert break chances efficiently.
