LUCKNOW, May 15 -- Transport authorities have issued notices to school managements after identifying several school vehicles, including in Lucknow, allegedly operating without valid permits, warning that vehicles found plying without renewed documents will face seizure and legal action. The transport department identified these vehicles during a special drive launched on April 1, which concluded at the end of the month after being extended by 15 days. While Lucknow Zone RTO Sanjay Tiwari did not respond to repeated calls and messages, another senior official said notices had been issued to 205 school vehicles whose permits were found to be pending renewal during the verification process. School managements concerned have been directed to complete the renewal process immediately and update vehicle details on the designated online portal, he added. Officials said any school vehicle found operating without a valid permit would be seized and legal action would also be initiated against the operator. "No compromise will be made with the safety of schoolchildren. All schools have been directed to comply with transport rules and the campaign will continue," an official said on the condition of anonymity. The state transport department had earlier directed all schools to upload details of their vehicles on the UP-ISVMP portal, which became operational on April 1. The portal serves as an integrated digital platform for monitoring the safety, documentation and legal compliance of school vehicles. Registration details and related documents are being monitored online through the system. Officials said several schools were yet to upload complete details of their vehicles, possibly due to pending permit renewals.
