Saundarya wins a golden double in AITA C'ship Series
LUCKNOW, May 23 -- Local challenger Saundarya Jaiswal won a golden double in the AITA Under-14 Championship Series, at the Vijayant Khand Stadium here on Friday. Haris Khan won the boys singles title.
In the girls singles final, top seed Saundarya continued her impressive run, cruising past Anya 6-0, 6-2. Saundarya's aggressive forehand and sharp court coverage left little room for reply. She also won the doubles title. Pairing with Aashi Kiran, she defeated Anya and Hiya Chauhan 6-4, 6-2.
In the boys singles final, top seed Haris Khan justified his billing with a commanding straight-sets victory over third seed Yuvraaj Singh 6-2, 6-3. Khan combined steady baseline depth with timely aggression to overpower Yuvraaj, breaking serve early in both sets and maintaining pressure with his first-serve percentage. Yuvraaj produced flashes of quality but could not sustain long rallies against Khan's consistency.
The boys' doubles final delivered tight drama as Ayushman Pathak and Ankur Alok of Bihar edged Haris Khan and Tejas Singh in two tie-break sets, 7-6 (2), 7-6 (4). The pairing of Pathak and Alok showed excellent net coordination and resilience under pressure, saving multiple break points and dominating the crucial tie-break moments to clinch the title.
