PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 20 -- Uttar Pradesh fisheries minister and Nishad Party president Sanjay Nishad on Saturday accused the SP, BSP and Congress of depriving the Nishad community of its rights, while asserting that the BJP-led governments at the Centre and in the state had worked for its welfare. Speaking to mediapersons at the Circuit House in Prayagraj, Nishad said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chief minister Yogi Adityanath had provided the community opportunities in education, healthcare and employment. He said the demand for reservation for the community was also being pursued. Nishad announced that his party would organise 10 conferences across Uttar Pradesh, beginning with Prayagraj. The first conference will be held on Sunday, September 20, at the Printing Ground in Teliarganj. Party office-bearers, workers and members of the Nishad community from Prayagraj and neighbouring districts, including Kaushambi, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur, Mirzapur, Chitrakoot and Banda, are expected to attend the conference. Nishad said the meeting will highlight the work undertaken by the government for the community and discuss the problems and challenges faced by members. Responding to a question on seat-sharing for the next Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, Nishad said his party had performed well on seats that the BJP had previously lost. He claimed that the party had won 11 of the 16 such seats in the previous election.
