Prayagraj, June 11 -- Prayagraj is set to get its first dedicated Senior Citizen Care Centre at Chandrashekhar Azad Park by March 2027 under a project being developed by Prayagraj Smart City Limited. The facility, spread over nearly 5,000 sq ft and being built at an estimated cost of Rs.2.76 crore, is aimed at providing senior citizens with a space for recreation, social interaction and wellness activities. Officials said around 20% of the construction work has already been completed. According to PSCL officials, the centre has been designed to help elderly residents stay socially connected and lead active lifestyles. The initiative is also expected to address issues such as loneliness, social isolation and old-age depression. The proposed facility will include an amphitheatre, yoga park, open gym, meditation hall, indoor games hall, multipurpose hall and a reading room. Other features will include a cafeteria, butterfly garden, aroma garden, giant chess board, pavilion-cum-amusement room and accessible pathways. Separate toilet facilities for men, women and differently-abled visitors will also be provided, along with a mini football ground, a gym kiosk, and a milk booth.
