Meerut, Aug. 17 -- The Sambhal police have uncovered a sophisticated child trafficking syndicate involving a Delhi-based IVF clinic, leading to the arrest of six individuals. Authorities are currently conducting an intense search for the alleged masterminds: Salman (alias Sultan) and his wife, Sajia, of Udhampura, Rampur. Sambhal superintendent of police (SP) Krishan Kumar Bishnoi stated that the couple's arrest is expected to expose the full extent of the network, which specifically targeted young children separated from their families at fairs and crowded public events. According to the SP, members of the alleged gang target fairs and crowded public places, where they look for young children who become separated from their families. Women are also allegedly involved in the racket, making it easier for members to approach children and remove them from crowded locations without immediately attracting suspicion. The gang utilised a network of accomplices to scout crowded locations for children. According to investigators, Komal, a nurse at a Delhi-based IVF clinic, facilitated these sales. She allegedly targeted patients at the clinic who were struggling with infertility, brokering illegal adoptions that bypassed legal procedures. The gang further legitimised these illicit transfers by arranging "fake parents" to pose as the children's relatives. The investigation was triggered following the abduction of a four-year-old boy from a fair in Obri. The boy Uwais was abducted on August 4. Investigators found he was sold for Rs 2.40 lakh to Delhi-based buyers. Days after, another child, Suleman, was abducted on August 8, was recovered after the gang abandoned him in Obri due to mounting police pressure. Police successfully traced the suspects by reviewing CCTV footage covering nearly 80 kilometres, which helped identify the vehicles used in the operations.
