S.I.R. to begin in U'khand from may 29, says CEO
Dehradun, May 15 -- The Election Commission of India will launch the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttarakhand from May 29 as part of the third phase of the nationwide revision exercise, officials said on Thursday. The revision in the state will be carried out with July 1, 2026, as the qualifying date.
Addressing a press briefing, chief electoral officer of Uttarakhand BVRC Purushottam said preparatory activities including printing of enumeration forms and training of staff will be conducted from May 29 to June 7.
He said BLOs will carry out door-to-door surveys from June 8 to July 7 to distribute and collect enumeration forms from eligible voters. "State's draft electoral roll will be published on July 14, after which claims and objections can be filed between July 14 and August 13," he said.
Purushottam said the verification process and disposal of claims and objections will continue until September 11. htc...
