PRAYAGRAJ, Sept. 21 -- A 33-year-old wife of a sub-inspector posted at the Dhoomanganj police station allegedly died by suicide late Saturday night, police said on Sunday. The woman reportedly made a video call to her husband before taking the extreme step. By the time he returned to their flat from night duty, she had already ended her life. According to police, the couple had a love marriage 10 months ago and had been experiencing marital discord. Her parents had visited the couple earlier that day and departed for Kanpur at 8 pm. Police said no suicide note has been recovered from the scene and the Dhoomanganj police are investigating the matter. Meanwhile, the deceased's family lodged an FIR against the S-I alleging physical and mental harassment of his wife. Meanwhile, DCP (city) Sagar Jain has transferred the S-I to the police lines and instructed police to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter.
