Russian firm keen to replicate Lko's model of waste management
LUCKNOW, June 26 -- In a major recognition of Lucknow's urban governance and sanitation initiatives, a Russian business delegation on Thursday expressed interest in replicating the city's waste management model in Russia after studying the techniques implemented by the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC), stated an LMC press release on Thursday.
The delegation from the Russia-based private company met mayor Sushma Kharkwal and municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar, and held a detailed discussion on modern solid waste management practices, environmental protection measures and sustainable urban development initiatives being implemented in the state capital.
During the meeting, municipal officials showcased Lucknow's ongoing solid waste management initiatives, including bio-mining of legacy waste, bio-remediation, landfill rehabilitation, leachate treatment and waste-to-value projects.
The two sides also discussed potential avenues for future technical collaboration and investment in waste management infrastructure. The talks centred on exchanging expertise in areas such as waste-to-energy technologies, landfill management, and environmentally sustainable waste disposal solutions.
Kharkwal said the LMC consistently strengthens scientific waste management systems to make Lucknow cleaner and more environmentally sustainable.
