Lucknow, June 30 -- In a major initiative to ease chronic traffic congestion on Ayodhya Road, the Uttar Pradesh government is set to take up a Rs.120-crore project to build two parallel elevated roads at the Kamta and Matiyari intersections that are among Lucknow's busiest traffic bottlenecks. The proposed flyovers will provide uninterrupted movement for vehicles heading towards Ayodhya, complementing the existing elevated stretches that currently serve traffic entering the city. The UP State Bridge Corporation (Setu Nigam) has prepared the detailed project report (DPR) and submitted it to the state government after including it in its 2026-27 annual action plan. Officials said construction will begin once the project receives administrative and financial approval. The proposal was put forward by Lucknow MP and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Lucknow East MLA O.P. Srivastava, following which the state government directed the UP State Bridge Corporation to prepare the DPR.
