RPF seizes 10 kg of suspected cannabis worth Rs.10 lakh from train
LUCKNOW, July 16 -- Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel recovered around 10 kg of suspected cannabis, estimated to be worth Rs.10 lakh, from two abandoned bags in a general coach of a train in Uttar Pradesh, officials said on Wednesday.
The seizure was made during a routine checking drive by a special RPF task team on board train number 15565 on Tuesday night. Officials said the team found two unattended bags in a general coach next to the engine while the train was travelling between Budhwal and Bindaura railway stations.
The RPF personnel asked passengers in the coach about the bags, but no one claimed ownership. When the train reached Barabanki railway station, the bags were opened in the presence of the train escort party, Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel and RPF staff.
Officials said the bags contained 10 packets of suspected cannabis weighing around 10 kg in total. The contraband was seized as unclaimed property and later handed over to the GRP in Barabanki....
