Lucknow, June 3 -- What appeared to be a roadside robbery of a photographer in Itaunja area in the state capital turned out to be an alleged inside job, with one of the victim's companions accused of masterminding the crime, police said on Tuesday. Photographer Ashok Yadav of Mal area had reported that four motorcycle-borne men looted photography equipment worth Rs.14-15 lakh near Nilansh Water Park Road on Monday night. The stolen items included six cameras, seven lenses, two gimbals and a mobile phone. Police, however, found inconsistencies in the complaint and identified four suspects within 24 hours. Among those detained is Rohan Sharma, who was driving Yadav's car and is suspected to be the main conspirator. Two other companions, Ramanuj Mishra and Vipin Mishra, have also been detained, while another accused, Vivek, remains absconding. Vikas Pandey, ACP, Bakshi Ka Talab, said, "Sharma had mortgaged his own camera, valued at around Rs.7-8 lakh, and was unable to redeem it. He allegedly planned the robbery after noticing that the victim possessed several new and expensive gadgets." The victim had earlier expressed suspicion over the driver's conduct, claiming he opened the vehicle's window when confronted by the assailants, an unusual act during such a robbery. Investigators used CCTV footage, mobile phone records and technical evidence to crack the case. A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and efforts are underway to recover the stolen equipment and arrest the remaining accused, including the bike-borne assailants who were part of the conspiracy....
