Rlys frees land worth Rs 100 crfrom encroachers in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, May 3 -- In a major crackdown on encroachments, North Central Railway (NCR) conducted a large-scale eviction drive in Gaughat area in Prayagraj on Saturday, reclaiming railway land worth around Rs 100 crore. The recovered land will now be used to construct a modern holiday home for railway employees and tourists.
During the operation, encroachments spread across nearly 6,500 square metres were cleared.
The anti-encroachment drive began around 10 am and proceeded with support from the district administration, civil police, Railway Protection Force (RPF), Municipal Corporation, and the railway engineering department. Due to the heavy administrative and police presence, no resistance was reported, and the drive concluded peacefully.
Divisional PRO Amit Singh said the land had been under illegal possession for several years. "The reclaimed land will be developed into a holiday home equipped with modern facilities. The project is expected to begin shortly," he said.
The drive was coordinated by additional divisional railway manager (general) Deepak Kumar. Senior district officials, including ACP Nikita Srivastava and Naib Tehsildar Rajesh Kumar Yadav, were also present at the site. Immediately after the eviction, the Railways began constructing a boundary wall around the site to prevent future encroachment....
