LUCKNOW, May 2 -- The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on Friday outlined plans for a statewide mobilisation campaign focused on labour rights, signalling a shift from symbolic observance to sustained grassroots action. At a meeting held at the party's state office here on the occasion of International Labour Day, senior leaders and labour cell representatives resolved to intensify outreach on key worker issues, including child labour eradication, enforcement of minimum wages, and expansion of social security for informal workers. Addressing the media, RLD national general secretary (organisation) Trilok Tyagi said the party would push for stricter enforcement of labour laws, especially those related to child labour. "Children belong in classrooms, not workplaces. This is not just a legal issue but a question of the country's future," he said, urging authorities to adopt a time-bound action plan. Tyagi also raised concerns over gaps in minimum wage enforcement, noting that many workers continue to be underpaid despite existing regulations. He called for stronger administrative accountability to prevent exploitation and ensure fair compensation. The meeting, chaired by state labour cell president Mahesh Pal Dhangar, brought together district-level leaders, worker representatives, and party office-bearers.
