PRAYAGRAJ, June 23 -- A revenue team conducting land measurement in Gandhiyav village in Karchana tehsil of Prayagraj was allegedly attacked on Monday afternoon, leading to injuries to a Lekhpal and a local resident, while official property was also damaged. According to officials, a team led by Naib Tehsildar Sandhya Goswami had reached the village to carry out the demarcation and measurement of land belonging to Premchand Maurya. During the exercise, tensions reportedly escalated over disputed land. Members of the opposite side allegedly objected to the proceedings, verbally abused revenue officials, and attacked the team. In the ensuing altercation, a Lekhpal was allegedly assaulted, and his motorcycle was damaged in the presence of revenue officials. Premchand Maurya, who had sought the land measurement, was also allegedly attacked when he tried to intervene. He sustained injuries after being struck with a sharp-edged weapon, according to preliminary reports. On receiving information about the incident, Karchhana sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) Tapan Mishra reached the spot along with a police team. The situation was brought under control, and officials assessed the circumstances surrounding the clash. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are identifying those involved in the alleged attack.
