LUCKNOW, Aug. 8 -- After a four-year wait, Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), will hold its 11th Convocation Ceremony on August 29. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will be the chief guest and confer degrees and gold medals on students. The convocation will cover graduates from the academic years 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. Around 8,300 students from undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph D programmes are eligible to receive their degrees. So far, nearly 4,100 students have registered to attend. The university's online registration portal will remain open until August 16, and officials expect the number to rise before the deadline. During the ceremony, about 390 research scholars will be awarded Ph D degrees and nearly 220 students will receive degrees under the Multiple Exit Scheme. In addition, over 450 meritorious students will be honoured with gold medals. Four students will also receive the prestigious RD Sonkar Award for outstanding performance. Vice-chancellor prof Raj Kumar Mittal said that BBAU graduates will contribute to the vision of Viksit Bharat through knowledge, innovation, ethical values and social responsibility. Controller of examinations prof Vikram Singh Yadav said preparations for the convocation are underway. Various committees have been formed to ensure smooth arrangements.
