MEERUT, June 23 -- A simmering controversy over the recent PDA (Backward, Dalit, and Minority) conference in Moradabad has escalated into a war of words between Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) chief Om Prakash Rajbhar and Samajwadi Party (SP) MP Ruchi Veera, fueling speculation of factionalism within the opposition ranks. The row stems from the PDA conference organised on June 14 in the Moradabad rural assembly constituency. Political circles were abuzz after reports emerged that Moradabad MP Ruchi Veera had not been invited to the event. Veera had publicly stated that although she was present in Moradabad on the day of the conference, she was not informed about the programme. She had also indicated that she would raise the issue before SP president Akhilesh Yadav. Seizing upon the controversy, Om Prakash Rajbhar took to social media, claiming that the Moradabad episode exposed deep-rooted internal contradictions within the Samajwadi Party. He alleged that the SP leadership had consistently failed to accord due respect to leaders from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Dalit communities. Rajbhar further claimed that dissatisfaction was growing within the party ranks and predicted a major split in the SP in the near future. According to him, the Moradabad incident was symptomatic of broader organisational and leadership issues within the party. Ruchi Veera dismissed Rajbhar's remarks and asserted that the SP remains united under the leadership of Akhilesh Yadav. She said there was no reason to take Rajbhar's statements seriously and maintained that all party leaders and workers stood firmly behind the SP chief. "Samajwadi Party is completely united. Every leader and worker is standing strongly with Akhilesh Yadav," Veera said, adding that political opponents should not mistake the SP for parties that have witnessed internal fragmentation. The MP claimed that she had received information from reliable sources suggesting that Rajbhar himself, along with several BJP MPs, was in contact with the SP. She, however, did not provide further details regarding the claim. Veera reiterated that she attached no significance to Rajbhar's statements and expressed confidence that voters would reject attempts to create confusion about the party's organisational strength....
