Raipur remains tensed after FIR
Dehradun, May 11 -- Adequate police deployment continued in Dehradun's Raipur on Sunday after right-wing groups staged a protest over an incident in which a woman alleged that she was assaulted by members of another community for playing religious songs at her shop, officials said.
According to the FIR, Deepanshu Grover runs a shop in Mandakini Vihar and a beauty parlour named 'Sonia Makeover', owned by Sanaya Khan and her husband Ishaan Khan, operates next to his shop.
Grover alleged in his complaint that the couple objected to religious songs and chants being played at his shop. He alleged that during his absence for two days, his wife Hema was harassed by them.
"When I confronted them over the issue, Sanaya started abusing me and threw a slipper at me. Soon, 15-20 people gathered there, picked up bricks and attacked us. One brick hit my wife and she fainted," Grover alleged in the complaint which named Sanaya Khan, Ishaan Khan, Sail Ahmed, Rifaqat Ali and Ishaan's unnamed brother, all residents of Mandakini Vihar.
Following the incident, Bajrang Dal members allegedly tore down the flex board of 'Sonia Makeover', alleging the owners concealed their religious identity to run the business. They also threatened closure of Muslim-owned shops in the area.
Rishikesh SP Jaya Baloni said, "Adequate police deployment has been made in the area to maintain law and order. No one will be allowed to take law into their own hands. Investigation into the matter is underway."
Police had registered an FIR on May 8 under BNS sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 191(2) (rioting) and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace)....
