Dehradun, July 24 -- Light to moderate rainfall over the past 24 hours disrupted road connectivity at several places in Uttarakhand, with landslides and boulder falls blocking roads in Dehradun, Uttarkashi and Rudraprayag districts on Thursday. The Meteorological Centre, Dehradun, has issued a yellow alert for July 24 to 26, forecasting heavy rainfall and intense lightning at isolated places in Dehradun, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Pithoragarh and Nainital districts. In Dehradun district, the Lambidhar-Kimari road, an alternate route to Mussoorie, was blocked at one stretch after landslides and boulder falls brought vehicular movement to a complete halt. Hari Singh, a local resident, said the road near Tun Khala had been blocked, making it difficult for residents to travel towards Dehradun. He added that the Mussoorie-Dehradun road, which was damaged by recent heavy rainfall, was currently open only to light vehicles. Rishabh Kumar, district disaster management officer, Dehradun, said restoration teams had been deployed to clear the debris from the Lambidhar-Kimari Road.
