Rain, snowfall in parts of state; IMD announces orange alert
Mussoorie, March 30 -- Light to moderate rainfall was reported across several districts of Uttarakhand on Sunday, while higher reaches witnessed snowfall, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said, issuing an orange alert for parts of the state on Monday. nowfall was reported in areas located at an altitude of 3,300 metres and above in the hill districts.
According to the India Meteorological Department centre in Dehradun, light to moderate rain and thunderstorms were experienced in districts including Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Haridwar, Tehri Garhwal, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar, Nainital and Pithoragarh districts. The IMD has issued an orange alert for Monday in districts such as Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh, forecasting light to moderate rain and snowfall in many places, particularly in high-altitude regions above 3,300 metres. Other hill districts remain under a yellow alert, while the plains may experience isolated light rainfall.
