Raids in Chandauli: 12 LPG cylinders, 100 passbooks seized
Varanasi, March 15 -- A team of the supply department along with administrative officials conducted raids at two locations in Mughalsarai (PDDU Nagar) town of Chandauli on Friday. During the raids, 12 LPG cylinders were recovered from one place, while 100 LPG booking passbooks were seized from another location.
A team led by sub-divisional magistrate Anupam Mishra raided a house in the Kali Mahal area of Chandauli and recovered 12 LPG cylinders and an electronic scale from the spot. The supply department team seized all the items. All the cylinders belonged to the Indane company. A pickup truck found at the site was also handed over to the police. The house owner was questioned.Supply inspector Mamta Singh said that 10 commercial cylinders, one domestic cylinder and one 8-kg commercial cylinder were recovered.
The domestic cylinder contained about 10 to 12 kg of gas, while the other cylinders were empty. During the search, four refilling machines and two electronic scales were also recovered from a room in the house owned by Sarita Devi. A pickup truck was also found at the location. According to the supply inspector, Sarita told officials during questioning that she had rented out the room about a year ago to Santosh Kumar Jaiswal, who used to bring and store these items there. Officials said that all the seized items have been kept in the custody of a gas agency for safekeeping, while the pickup truck has been handed over to the police. Legal action is underway.
In another case on Friday, a complaint was received regarding the alleged black marketing of cylinders and the storage of a large number of passbooks at Naman General Store in Syedaraja town, Chandauli.
Following the complaint, circle officer Sadar Devendra Kumar Singh along with Syedaraja police conducted a raid. Police said around 100 LPG booking passbooks were recovered from the shop. The passbooks were later handed over to the supply department....
