Pvt bus operators assault roadways driver, two held
PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 2 -- Chaos erupted on the Ayodhya-Prayagraj highway on Sunday afternoon when a Roadways bus driver was allegedly assaulted by private bus operators over picking up passengers, triggering a traffic jam that stranded commuters and PET aspirants for hours.
According to police, the Roadways bus from the Pratapgarh depot was traveling from Prayagraj to Gorakhpur and it stopped near Bhagwa Chungi to drop passengers. Police and traffic personnel rushed to the spot and persuaded the driver to remove the bus. Two accused, identified as Mohammad Saeed of Ajit Nagar Ward and Ramashankar alias Kallu of the Old Excise Office area near Sadar crossing, were taken into custody. The driver later lodged a formal complaint with the police.

Even the vehicle of the city Kotwali got caught in the jam while traveling from Chowk towards Kotwali police station. Traffic disruptions continued on the Chowk-district court route for several hours.
