GORAKHPUR, Sept. 14 -- Protesters gheraoed the Bhaluani police station in Deoria on Sunday, demanding strict action against two accused arrested in the murder of Manish Singh alias Monu. Police said China Ansari and Ambuj Vishwakarma were arrested after a brief encounter near Gandhi Chowk. Ansari allegedly opened fire at police after snatching a sub-inspector's revolver and sustained a bullet injury in his leg. Monu, a Bhaluani resident, was stabbed to death on Thursday night. His family had reportedly complained to police on September 1, expressing apprehension that his life and property were under threat.
