Prostitution racket busted in Doon; 2 arrested
Dehradun, May 15 -- A prostitution racket operating in the Cantonment area of Dehradun was busted by police, who arrested two accused, including the alleged kingpin, and rescued three women during a raid conducted on Wednesday evening, officials said.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Pramendra Dobhal said the action was taken after police received confidential inputs about immoral trafficking activities in the area.
Acting on the information, a joint team of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit and Cantt police, under the supervision of the circle officer (City), conducted a surprise raid at Kishan Nagar Extension on May 13.
During the raid, police found three women and a man in a compromising situation in the rear portion of a school in the area. The police arrested two accused - Ashish Kumar Pandey (42), a resident of Jaipur in Rajasthan, and Jang Bahadur (50), also from Jaipur - while rescuing the three women from the spot.
The SSP said Pandey was allegedly running the racket and had earlier served jail time in a similar case.During interrogation, he revealed that he lured women from other states to Dehradun on the pretext of providing jobs and later forced them into prostitution, the SSP said....
