LUCKNOW, Oct. 19 -- A dispute over an alleged Rs.50,000 debt between two property dealers turned fatal in Lucknow. The borrower is accused of bludgeoning his associate to death with a brick, concrete stones and a hammer before stuffing his body into sacks and dumping it along a dirt track in Bakshi Ka Talab (BKT), police said on Sunday. Police said the accused were arrested before they could leave for Ladakh. BKT police have arrested two men in connection with the murder: Aman Dhiman, 24, a property broker, and Ravi Kumar Gautam, 25, a painter. A 14-year-old boy has also been taken into custody, while another accused, Suraj Rawat, remains absconding, police said. DCP (North) Amit K Anand said the body of Arvind Kumar Rawat, who was also involved in property dealing, was found stuffed in sacks on an unpaved track outside Acharamau village in the BKT area around 11.30 pm on October 12. His identity was later established, following which his wife, Manju Devi, lodged a murder complaint naming four suspects, including Aman, he added. According to the police, Arvind had allegedly called Aman to meet him near a liquor shop in Koili Purwa on October 12. After buying liquor, the two men and the minor went to a plot office in the Manas Green scheme area, where they drank together. "During the meeting, Arvind allegedly demanded repayment of Rs.50,000 that Aman owed him. Aman offered to pay Rs.10,000 immediately and settle the remaining amount later, triggering an argument over the outstanding debt," police said. "During the altercation, Aman allegedly hurled a brick at Arvind's head and repeatedly struck him with concrete stones. Suspecting that Arvind was still alive, he then allegedly hit him on the head with a hammer, killing him," DCP Amit K Anand added. The accused allegedly enlisted the minor's help to put the body into sacks and load it into the boot of a car. They then drove to an unpaved track outside Acharamau village and dumped the body there, police said. Investigators said Aman allegedly took Arvind's mobile phone and later threw it into bushes. He also washed the car, which he had borrowed from another person to transport the body, before handing it over to his friend, Suraj Rawat. Suraj allegedly agreed to help Aman out of friendship and was asked to move the car to prevent it from being used as evidence, police said. Suraj has also been absconding since the incident, police said. Police said Aman's friend Ravi took him to Delhi on a motorcycle the day after the murder in an attempt to flee the district. Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of BKT police and the north zone's SWAT and surveillance units arrested the two around 12.10 am on October 17 near a dirt track leading towards a forest from the Kisan Path-Gohana Kalan road. The minor was taken into custody separately. Police said two large concrete stones, a brick fragment, an iron hammerhead and a wooden hammer handle were recovered at Aman's instance. Two Android phones and Rs.1,100 in cash were also seized from the accused, while the motorcycle was impounded under the Motor Vehicles Act. Police have added charges for allegedly concealing the body and destroying evidence to the murder case registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The case was initially registered on a complaint by the victim's wife, who named four men on suspicion of their involvement in disputes with her husband. Police said Aman has three previous cases registered against him, including one under Section 304 of the Indian Penal Code and another under the Arms Act in 2018, and a 2023 case involving charges of assault, mischief and criminal intimidation. The investigation is underway, with police searching for the absconding accused, Suraj Rawat, and examining other evidence in the case....
