PRAYAGRAJ, Aug. 3 -- Prayagraj Airport recorded its lowest passenger traffic and flight operations for the month of July in seven years, mainly due to the suspension of Akasa Air's daily Mumbai service from July. According to airport data, 178 flights-89 arrivals and 89 departures-operated during July 2026, carrying 25,452 passengers, including 12,388 arrivals and 13,064 departures. The figures represent the airport's lowest July traffic since 2019. The decline was driven by Akasa Air's decision to scale back its daily Mumbai service, limiting operations to Mondays. As a result, Prayagraj Airport had no scheduled passenger flights on Saturdays throughout July. In July 2025, the airport handled 306 flights and 39,978 passengers. The corresponding figures stood at 536 flights and 47,459 passengers in 2024, 682 flights and 59,273 passengers in 2023, 646 flights and 40,593 passengers in 2022, 556 flights and 31,973 passengers in 2021, 324 flights and 26,010 passengers in 2020, and 398 flights carrying 32,631 passengers in July 2019. Prayagraj Airport director Ganesh Yadav said discussions had already been held with Akasa Air officials, who have initiated preparations to restore daily operations on the Mumbai route.
