Prayagraj admn warns residents against census-related cyber fraud
PRAYAGRAJ, May 11 -- The district administration has warned residents to stay alert against cyber fraud in the name of Census 2027 amid growing rumours and confusion regarding the enumeration process.
Officials clarified that census enumerators are not authorised to ask for OTPs, Aadhaar cards, PAN cards, mark sheets or photocopies of any pers- onal documents during the survey.
ADM (Finance and Revenue) and district census officer Vinita Singh said the census exercise is being conducted only to collect population data and citizens should not share sensitive information with anyone claiming to be part of the process.
She said the housing enumeration phase will be conducted from May 22 to June 20. During this period, enumerators will visit households to collect basic information.
Officials stressed that genuine enumerators will never ask residents to share OTPs received on their mobile phones. Any person demanding such information should be treated as a cyber fraudster trying to misuse the census process.
The administration has also started circulating short awareness videos to explain the census process and the type of questions that may be asked. The aim is to remove confusion among residents and ensure transparency during the exercise.
District magistrate Manish Kumar Verma appealed to people to ignore rumours and cooperate with the census officials without fear. He urged citizens to remain vigilant and avoid sharing personal documents or OTPs with anyone in the name of census 2027....
