Prayagraj: kin block highway after two workers die of electrocution
PRAYAGRAJ, June 1 -- Tension gripped the Mumfordganj area of Prayagraj on Sunday following the electrocution deaths of a carpenter and a labourer in Lalpatti locality a day earlier. After the post-mortem examination, the victims' relatives placed their bodies on the Lucknow Highway and staged a road blockade, causing major traffic disruptions and long queues of vehicles on both sides of the road.
The protesters demanded the immediate arrest of the landlord's sons, who have been named in the FIR, and sought financial compensation for the bereaved families.
The incident took place around 1.30 pm on Saturday in Lalpatti, Mumfordganj, where two men were working at the residence of Khetai Lal, also known as Lalchand. While Ramesh was identified soon after the accident, Dinesh's identity was confirmed only late at night. As his identity was initially unknown, police sent both bodies to the mortuary for post-mortem examination as unidentified persons.
Senior officials, including SDM (Sadar) Abhishek Singh and ACP Colonelganj Vimal Kishore Mishra, reached the site and persuaded the protesters to end the blockade by assuring them of appropriate action. The road was cleared after nearly 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, a murder case has been registered at Colonelganj police station based on a complaint filed by Aniket Kumar, son of Dinesh Bhartiya. The complaint alleges that the landlord's sons assaulted the two men and killed them after expressing dissatisfaction with their work....
