Pratapgarh students to learn nature lessons at forest nurseries
PRAYAGRAJ, July 11 -- In a first-of-its-kind initiative to nurture environmental awareness among children, the Pratapgarh district administration in Prayagraj division will launch 'Harit Gyan' (Green Knowledge) classes at forest department nurseries, enabling students to learn about nature through hands-on experience.
Under the initiative, students of government-run primary and upper primary schools will visit forest department nurseries, where they will be introduced to the importance of trees, biodiversity, wildlife conservation and ecological balance. They will also learn about nursery management, plant propagation, ecosystem conservation, sustainable development and the need to protect natural habitats, inform district officials.
Divisional forest officer (DFO) Ashutosh Gupta said the initiative is aimed at connecting the younger generation with nature and complementing the state's large-scale afforestation drive. "Along with government-led plantation campaigns, it is equally important to instill environmental consciousness among children, who will shape society in the future," he said.
Forest officials and nursery staff will conduct guided tours and interactive sessions to explain how saplings are raised, how plants grow, and the role of trees in maintaining a healthy and clean environment. The forest department is finalising the framework for the programme, under which 25 forest nurseries across the district are being prepared to host the sessions....
