Lucknow, Aug. 13 -- The Uttar Pradesh Vidyut Karmchari Sanyukt Sangharsh Samiti, has opposed the proposed grant of a parallel electricity distribution licence to Adani Energy Solutions Step-Eleven Ltd and Adani Energy Solutions Ltd for supplying power to a data centre park in Noida, calling it a "backdoor attempt" to privatise power distribution in the state. The employees' body leader Shailendra Dubey in a written statement said that shifting high-revenue consumers such as data centres from Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (PVVNL) to a private distributor could weaken the public discom's financial position while allowing private companies to selectively acquire profitable consumers. The Samiti warned that the move could eventually pave the way for private distribution licences for industrial and commercial consumers across Uttar Pradesh. The organisation demanded disclosure of the complete application, proposed area of operation, network-use conditions and likely financial impact on PVVNL. Dubey said employees, farmers and consumers will oppose the move before the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission and other democratic forums....
