LUCKNOW, July 5 -- The police investigation into the alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram temple in Ayodhya has expanded to the real estate trail with investigators scrutinising suspected property acquisitions by the arrested accused and their associates to determine whether the investments were funded through diverted temple donations, according to senior police sources. The probe also includes possible benami transactions, with police verifying ownership records, financial transactions and the source of funds. Among the properties under scrutiny are a land deal in Lucknow allegedly linked to arrested accused Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav, and land holdings in Lucknow and Noida reportedly connected to another person associated with the controversy. Investigators are examining the funding pattern and ownership of these assets. Police sources said key leads on the real estate investments emerged during the custodial interrogation of arrested accused Avinash Shukla. Investigators are now matching those disclosures with revenue and registration records and are likely to question property dealers, intermediaries and other associates to establish the complete money trail.
