Police detain 14 in doon as 'op prahar' intensifies
Dehradun, April 4 -- Police detained 14 suspects, arrested ten people and questioned more than 900 people during a late-night crackdown carried out across Dehradun district under the ongoing "Operation Prahar", officials said on Friday.
The operation was conducted on the night of April 2-3 on the directions of Pramendra Singh Dobhal, senior superintendent of police (SSP), Dehradun, as part of a statewide campaign to curb criminal activities.
Dobhal said multiple police teams carried out surprise raids at locations suspected to be hideouts of individuals involved in drug trafficking and other illegal activities. Dobhal said 14 suspects were detained under Section 172 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) during the operation . He said during the late-night checking drive, police personnel questioned more than 900 people found roaming in different parts of the city. Of them, 99 individuals were issued challans under Section 81 of the Police Act, and fines totalling Rs.24,750 were collected. Police also arrested seven individuals for creating public nuisance in public places....
