GORAKHPUR, Sept. 24 -- Taking a swipe at the previous Samajwadi Party (SP) government over the prolonged delay in completing the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Shiv Bakhri in Sant Kabir Nagar district, deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Wednesday visited the site and reviewed the project's history, construction status and reasons for the delay. He directed officials to make the CHC functional by December 2026, raising hopes among thousands of residents who have been awaiting the facility for nearly 14 years. Pathak said the community health centre had remained stalled for 14 years due to the "apathetic attitude" of the previous SP government and lack of funds. Addressing a gathering at Shiv Bakhri village in Pauli block of Dhanghata, Pathak launched a sharp attack on the Samajwadi Party. He said the government had sanctioned around Rs 52.69 lakh to complete the remaining work at the centre, including electrical connections. Once completed, the facility is expected to benefit nearly three lakh people in the Pauli and Dhanghata areas.
