Pathak urges dentists to educate people on good brushing habits
LUCKNOW, July 26 -- Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak on Saturday urged dentists to spread awareness about preventive oral healthcare, stressing that brushing teeth before going to bed is more beneficial than brushing only in the morning.
Speaking at the inauguration of the eighth UP Dental Show organised by the Indian Dental Association (IDA) at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan in Gomti Nagar, Pathak, who also holds the health portfolio, said food particles trapped between teeth overnight increase the risk of tooth decay and other dental problems, making night-time brushing essential. He also urged dental professionals to educate people not only about the importance of brushing but also about the right time to do it.
Pathak assured dentists that the state government would address issues related to the registration and renewal of dental clinics and hospitals.
Experts at the conference highlighted advances in laser dentistry, describing it as a safer and more precise option for several dental procedures. Dr Himangi Dubey, co-chairperson of the UP Dental Show, said laser-assisted treatment has significantly improved outcomes in failed root canal treatment (RCT) cases by effectively disinfecting infected areas and eliminating bacteria, thereby increasing treatment success rates.
The technology is also being used for laser frenectomy, a minimally invasive procedure to correct abnormal tissue attachments beneath the tongue or lips, reducing pain, bleeding and recovery time. Around 2,000 dental professionals attended the conference, organisers said....
